Culturally competent and asset-based arts education and community convenings, in partnership with juvenile detention centers, school systems, LAPD, and community-based organizations.
The backbone of the Homeboy Industries model is case management. All trainees are immediately placed with a case manager who walks with them as they navigate challenges like securing housing and childcare.
More than 300 trainees and community clients participate in the classes offered through our Educational Services department every month. Most attend multiple classes each week, filling almost 3000 seats monthly.
Homeboy Industries is dedicated to providing the resources for people to move beyond their past and build a new future for themselves and their family.
Our Homeboy Industries Legal Services team works closely with trainees on a variety of issues ranging from managing suspended driver’s licenses to family reunification. All accomplished through a system of assessment, advocacy, and accompaniment. Petitions for dismissal or expungements are also provided as a key service that can reduce serious barriers to employment.
Mental Health Services
The Mental Health Department at Homeboy Industries is as innovative as the agency itself, providing trauma-informed clinical services uniquely designed to meet the complex needs of our clients.
Solar Panel Training
Founded in 2010, Homeboy Industries’ Solar Panel training program provides a unique chance for homeboys and homegirls to gain marketable skills while looking out for the environment.
No entity on the planet removes more tattoos than Homeboy Industries. At Homeboy Industries, laser tattoo removal is provided to individuals, whether enrolled in the Homeboy program or community clients.
Over the decades we have learned that gainful employment is only part of what gang members and formerly incarcerated individuals need to transform their lives.
For many of our clients, substances are a way of coping with the pain of gang involvement, homelessness, and mental health issues. We provide substance abuse support via group and one-on-one sessions.
THe first youth re-entry center in Boyle Heights is focused on preventing high-risk gang-affiliated youth from entering the adult prison system.
Step into Homeboy Industries’ offices and you’ll find it bursting with activity–Homeboys, Homegirls, trainees, and staff members–all attending to the important business of changing lives. Among them are the 100+ long-term volunteers who keep Homeboy industries going. Lawyers, teachers, therapists, social workers, and medical professionals all take time out of their busy schedules to offer their services pro bono.
