Expanding Our Impact

Our 2030 Ambition

As we look to the future of Homeboy Industries, we are guided by our 2030 ambition to change the way the world views, judges, and treats our most marginalized – the formerly incarcerated and gang involved. Through our daily work and commitment to the healing of the most demonized in a trusting, loving community, we will demonstrate to the world a new way forward.

BUILDING PROGRAM CAPACITY

EXPANDING OUR PROGRAMS TO DELIVER MORE SERVICES

Homeboy Industries is seeking to double the number of clients served annually through wrap-around social services and workforce development. Investing in leadership development for staff with lived experience is a significant priority and central to our theory of change as we stand with the most marginalized.

Housing

BUILDING A HOME FOR HEALING

With more than 75% of Homeboy’s clients meeting the federal definition of homeless, we have a plan to build transitional and supportive housing for participants in our 18-month reentry program. We are on track to break ground on a 160-bed bridge housing development in Spring 2023.

HOMEBOY VENTURE AND JOBS FUND

GENERATING JOBS AND PROMOTING ECONOMIC MOBILITY

Homeboy Industries is one of twelve organizations nationally to receive funding from the New World Foundation to participate in a quality jobs creation initiative. Their $5M commitment has enabled the creation of the Homeboy Venture and Jobs, a source of capital to launch new social enterprises and expand our current businesses.

Campus Expansion

CREATING A SAFE HAVEN FOR HOPE TO GROW

Hope truly has an address at Homeboy Industries. Our campus is a sanctuary for healing and kinship. As we seek to double the number of people we serve, we have plans to expand our campus to create more programming, wellness, and office space.

HOMEBOY YOUTH REENTRY CENTER

PROVIDING A HOME FOR EVERY CHILD IN BOYLE HEIGHTS

In 2020, Homeboy launched LA County’s first youth reentry center for gang and system-impacted youth. In combination with our charter high school and the Homeboy Art Academy, Homeboy’s Youth Reentry Center provides wrap-around social services, job training, and education to the most demonized youth in our community.

HOMEBOY ART ACADEMY

HEALING THROUGH THE ARTS

Located in East LA, the Homeboy Art Academy is a trauma-informed arts center that provides culturally competent and asset-based arts education to system-impacted youth and adults. Our partnerships include juvenile detention centers, school systems, parks and recreation centers, and community based organizations, along with many corporations helping us create pathways into the creative economy.

GLOBAL HOMEBOY NETWORK

EXPANDING THE HOMEBOY MODEL WORLDWIDE

Launched in 2014, the mission of the Global Homeboy Network is to work with like-minded organizations across the globe to offer a new paradigm in standing with those on the margins – one anchored in kinship, love, and mutuality. To date, more than 350 organizations around the world have modeled their programs based on Homeboy Industries support.
