PJ Fox PJ Fox III, Executive Director, has been with the Nonviolence Institute a total of 15 years. PJ is Certified in MLK’s Theory of Nonviolence, PJ continues to develop the Institute’s Community Violence Reduction Framework known as the Beloved Healthy Community, which is fully operational in three cities across the country, Providence and Pawtucket, RI and Chicago IL; and is scheduled to be operationalized in Selma, AL in 2019; PJ and the Institute are often asked to consult with other city violence prevention programs throughout the country, for example Fall River, New Bedford, and Brockton MA, Wyandanch, NY, New Haven, CT. He has created and implemented many effective programs and projects which have had impacts on organizations and governmental systems, such as police departments, school departments (including Providence Public Schools) and the RI Training School (Juvenile Prison in RI), and an AmeriCorps program that operated in three school districts over a 5-year period, which amazing results around culture change and school violence reduction. He is credited with ending a potential violent standoff in 2016 that had occurred on Narragansett Tribal land.

Tara Dorsey

Fabian Garcia Fabian is currently Director of Government Relations at Homeboy Industries.  Homeboy Industries provides hope, training, and support to formerly gang-involved and previously incarcerated men and women.  Homeboy Industries is the largest re-entry program in the world and employs over 200 trainees a year. Prior to transitioning to Homeboy Industries, Fabian served as Senior Regional Program Coordinator for the Mayor’s Office of Gang Reduction and Youth Development (GRYD). Fabian played an instrumental role in the development of the City’s Prevention, Intervention, Re-entry, and Tattoo Removal Programs. Additionally, Fabian was integral developing and implementing strategies to increase police legitimacy and community trust. Fabian earned a B.A. from UC Santa Barbara in Chicano Studies and Minor in Philosophy with an emphasis on Ethics and Public Policy.  He has worked for the MALDEF and NALEO.  Fabian has dedicated himself to serving the traditionally underserved communities and creating opportunities for closing the inequality gaps.

Jessica Sanchez Jessica is currently the Government Relations Assistant at Homeboy Industries. Homeboy industries provides hope, training and support to formerly involved and previously incarcerated men and women. Homeboy Industries is the largest re-entry program in the world and employs over 200 trainees a year. Jessica was raised in South Central Los Angeles where she experienced the unique dynamics of growing up in that community.  Jessica believes, no matter how hard life was, it was always worth fighting for a better one.  Jessica arrived at Homeboy Industries seeking a second chance and opportunity to grow and learn.  She has participated in Homeboy Industries’ 18-month program and is a mentor and leader in the organization. As part of the Government Relations team, Jessica is helping lead the Homeboy Industries Local Organizing Committee (LOC) which seeks to identify and act on advocacy needs, provides civic engagement education opportunities and maintains relationships with key decision makers.  Jessica is a graduated of the Initiate Justice – Institute of Impacted Leaders and plans on continuing growing her advocacy skills and impact.

Mary Livesay joined Homeboy Industries’ Advancement Department in January 2021 as the Manager of Foundation Relations. Prior to Homeboy Industries Mary spent a decade in the nonprofit world most recently working at a women’s college in Southern California. Mary is humbled and honored to be part of her first in-person Global Homeboy Network Gathering and excited to meet members of the GHN from across the world and learn about the work you all are doing in your community to work toward social justice. Previously, Tessa spent ten years at PATH (People Assisting the Homeless), a nonprofit dedicated to ending homelessness for individuals, families, and communities across California. Tessa was born and raised in Wichita, KS and made her way to Southern California to attend USC for both her Bachelor’s and Master’s programs. She’s thrilled to be joining this group of social changemakers from across the world as part of her first Global Homeboy Network Gathering.

Fr. Frank Buckley

Fr. Frank Buckley, SJ is a Jesuit priest and clinical psychologist. He completed his pre
and post doc fellowship in the counseling center (CAPS) at University of San Francisco.
The theme of his doctoral dissertation is “Flourishing on a Jesuit campus” – a topic that
he remains very passionate about to this day.  His interest in mindfulness, meditation,
contemplation, and Eastern spirituality has taken him to Jesuit communities in Nepal,
Thailand, India, and Tibet.

His interests focus on neuroscience, Ignatian spirituality, addiction. During his first year
after ordination, he worked as the drug/ alcohol case manager for MSC South, the
largest homeless shelter in San Francisco. He also assisted with masses at St. Agnes,
the Jesuit parish in the Haight-Ashbury district. Following this, he helped initiate the St.
Vincent de Paul’s Wellness Center in San Francisco, a program focused on an
integrated approach to addiction and mental illness through a wellness model.

is the largest gang prevention program in the world. The mission of Homeboy Industries
is to provide hope, training, and support to formerly gang-involved and previously
incarcerated men and women, allowing them to redirect their lives and become
contributing members of our community. Fr. Frank loves to share his work of integrating
the neuroscience by prioritizing safety and social engagement to experience well-being
in our everyday normal lives.
