Bobby Martinez

Bobby came through Homeboy Industries’ doors in 2017 and participated in the 18-month training program. While at Homeboy, he worked diligently to get his children back from the DCFS system and they have been with him, in his care, for six years now. He left Homeboy to oversee recovery programs at two of L.A. CADA’s downtown treatment facilities. He works closely with people who are formerly incarcerated and gang involved, LGTBQ clients and populations that are the most marginalized.

Sean Kennedy

Sean Kennedy is the Kaplan and Feldman Executive Director of Loyola Law School’s Center for Juvenile Law and Policy. Prior to this, he was the Federal Public Defender for the Central District of California. Sean serves on the board of Loyola’s Advocacy Institute and is currently Chair of the Sheriff Civilian Oversight Commission for Los Angeles County. Through the Center for Juvenile Law and Policy, law students are trained to holistically represent gang-involved youth in juvenile proceedings. As a solution to “gang enhancements” that were widely used to secure extreme sentences for juveniles, Sean founded the Independent Forensic Gang Expert College to train system-impacted people with lived experience to testify in court on behalf of youth accused of gang involvement. The program educates participants for courtroom testimony, presentence advocacy, and sentencing mitigation.
